Q bar sound
Rob Engel isn't a Dj at Q bar. He was brought in by the guys who throw the hearts party. The party was the only reason Q was busy that night. The bar has lost all its good Dj's. The Dj on Saturday recently quit and the Dj that used to spin on Sunday is also no longer there. They were really good. Q should be the place to go but its not. The drinks are weak and the music sucks.
Columbus Ohio's Best Dance Club
I disagree with the negative reviews about Q. I love everthing about this club. Q features the hottest DJ's in Columbus. Recently, at their Heart's Party both Rob Engel and Matthew Sphar had the dancefloor packed all night long. Q has also been making a name for themselves by featuring some great themes such as their Disco nights on the 2nd Friday of every month and their monthly 80's party. Finally, Q recently has updated it's look with more video, new lighting, and fresh paint on the walls. Q is by far the place to be on weekends in Columbus and they have parking (unlike the clubs in the Short North).
music sucks
I agree with the conclusion of all these negative reviews just not the reasons for them. The music at Q never sounds like a 1990's circuit party. If it did it would be packed. And the Dj's never play hard hitting tribal tunes. If they did everyone would want to go there. The music played there is the current dance tracks on satellite radio. But there is no creativity to the night or thought to the nights programming. The Saturday night Dj has his moments but forget it on Friday. But on either night there is a lack of soul and heart coming from the Dj booth. They had a younger Dj (dont know his name) on Sundays who was great but they never had him spin on Fridays or Saturdays when he could have given the place the energy it needed. The bar could have been great but it doesnt have much longer.
New Year's Eve at Q
New Year's Eve at Q started with a bad drag show that began 45 minutes late. The bartenders at Q are slow to the extreme! The only good thing about the night was DJ Matthew Sphar who after the drag show played requests along with a good mix of pop remixes and current club and house tunes. Matthew is definately one of the best club dj's I've heard in Columbus. Overall, Q is a bar that has potential but there seems to be a problems with how they are running their club.
Visitors should skip the Q
Save yourself the waste of an evening and try one of the other Columbus gay bars. Slow isn't even the word for the worst bartenders in town! The place is small and has the worst music. The crowds are small and no wonder. I think it will fold soon.
