Carol Fey, LeeAnn Massucci and Tom Addesa, Attorneys at Law and experts in the field of LGBT family law... will present a seminar and Q&A to address many of these important issues for you. Please join us! Here are a few of the topics that will be covered:
1. What is different about parenting options after the Supreme Court decision?
2. People who choose to marry and have children:
Adoption, step-parent (second-parent) adoption, adult adoption
Establishing parentage in domestic / juvenile court
Getting both names on the children’s birth certificates
BUT Getting both names on the birth certificates is not enough in Ohio - legal “presumption” of parentage of second parent may well not apply!
What if you already established shared custody? Is that enough? Differences between shared custody and legal status as parent.
3. What about people who don’t choose to marry?
4. Marriages / civil unions with FORMER partners? Clean them up!
