Pecha Kucha at Strongwater

Join us for PK #28 on February 13th. Festivities kick off at Strongwater (401 W. Town St) with the music of Erika Hughes at 7:00pm and presentations begin at 7:30. This exciting February edition will be emceed by none other than drag queen, and one of Columbus Alive’s People to Watch 2013, Nina West. Each speaker will follow the international Pecha Kucha format of showing 20 images and speaking about each image for 20 seconds. Presenters include: • Amy Kesting, the Pizzuti Collection • Addie Mayella Cheges, illustrator & designer/Mute & Gold • John Lynch, artisan soda-maker of Rambling House Soda Pop • Chet Ridenour, car2Go & Short North Civic Association • Donald Isom and the I AM DANCE team • Randy Sharma, RockDocOhio & Project Zero/Physician, Activist And back to Pecha Kucha by popular demand are our signature t-shirts. Positive Negative Press will be onsite printing shirts for $10 or you can have your own shirt screened for $5. Bring your appetite, because Strongwater’s kitchen and bar will offer food and drinks for purchase. Alcoholic beverages may be purchased by patrons who are 21 and older. Free parking is available in the lot just east of the building and along Lucas Street. Carpooling is encouraged.The suggested donation upon event entry is $2 per person, benefiting Pecha Kucha Columbus. It was founded in Tokyo in 2003 as a way for designers to meet and share their work in public, and has morphed into a massive celebration with events in more than 600 cities around the world. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for “the sound of chitchat,” it rests on a simple and momentum-driven presentation format: 20 images x 20 seconds. Pecha Kucha Columbus was formed by a group of designers and community members in February of 2007.
