FORMERLY POSTPONED SOLIDARITY MARCH WITH MINNEAPOLIS AND BATON ROUGE.
First, thank you to all the community members that have been patient with us as we worked to ensure safety and clarity around this march. We have decided, in concert with other organizations in the area, that we stand in solidarity with the pain and struggle in cities across the country, but we must shed light on the pain and loss of police brutality within our own city.
We lost two black men in June to the hands of CPD, Henry Green and Kawme Patrick. Our city is filled with stories of pain and injustice at the hands of cops. Our march will begin at Goodale Park at 1:00 pm, and we will be there for approximately an hour. There will be a speakout for all victims of police brutality and their families, and we encourage those folks to come up and speak. From there, we will be marching for a little under an hour with stops planned, and returning to Goodale Park around 4:00. Please contact us with any other accessibility concerns.

POSTPONED POSTPONED POSTPONED - Safety concerns
*******Because of the shootings in Dallas, and the increased police presence in the state due to the RNC, Cbus2Ferguson is postponing the community gathering. We believe in disruption and pushing back at institutional powers, but unprecedented facebook-attendance has made this even less safe. We would like to have safety plans, and clearer goals before having such a large convening of people. Even though we are non-violent, the situation is dangerous. We originally wanted a space where the community could be together, possibly march, definitely chant, and find some healing... But the situation is highly tense, and we do not want to put anyone in danger. Thank you for understanding.*********
*******Sunset 7/8 isn't until 9:03 pm, BUT the park is technically closed after dark! That being said, we've had night actions/gatherings here before. Park auth. or police have never towed or vandalized cars in the past, but many of you may feel more comfortable parking on the side streets north of Broad instead of in Franklin Park lots.
Be vigilant!********
****Absolutely nothing violent is planned for tomorrow's gathering. Still, there is a possibility that armed police and armed white supremacists can bring violence to this non-violent gathering. We can't guarantee how those groups will act, so please be alert for your own safety if you attend tomorrow.*****
#PhilandoCastile #AltonSterling and countless other people have been gunned down by racist, Anti-Black state violence.
These tragedies come to us while we're all still reeling from the pain of #Orlando, #Istanbul, #Baghdad, and #Dhaka.
Let's all come together.
If people want to march, they can march. If they want to speak out, speak out. If they want to have a moment of silence, that works too. We'll let the community decide for itself. WE JUST WANT TO COME TOGETHER.
One of our original demands was that COLUMBUS POLICE CONDEMN RACIST ATTACKS in our city and other cities. There's no reason CPD can't openly condem people who are handcuffed or simply reaching for a wallet!!
COLUMBUS HAS IT'S OWN CRISIS and the family of a young man killed in the Linden area has been organizing as well. This can be a space for that movement as well as a space for other movements against acts of racist state violence in Columbus.
Meet at the amphitheatre!
Back up location to check will be Bus Stop on Broad St and Conservatory Pl.
