Irish playwright Lennox Robinson’s comic masterpiece involves the homecoming of Denis, the “white-headed boy,” the third and youngest son of the Geoghegans. It’s Denis’s third try at his finals in medical school and the family is brimming with pride. When he arrives, however, the scene turns frustrating and silly. Denis has failed his exams and spent most of his time at school betting on horses. His family agrees that enough time and money have been spent on him until Denis’s future father-in-law threatens to sue the family for failing to provide for his daughter.
