The Short North Civic Association invites neighbors and movie lovers to enjoy another year of cinema under the stars on the softball field in historic Goodale Park. Screen on the Green offers free monthly summer screenings on a 30-foot inflatable screen, with state-of-the-art projection and sound.
We're kicking off our sixth season with director Tim Burton's gleefully deranged 1988 comedy. Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis star as a recently deceased couple navigating the bureaucracy of the afterlife, and Michael Keaton is the "bio-exorcist" they summon to get rid of the living family that's moved into their dream home. The film also features Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones, and the timelessly catchy calypso tunes of Harry Belafonte.
The screening starts at sunset - about 9 p.m.. Bring a chair or blanket and come early for dinner from food trucks Green Meanie and Angry Weiner. Before the show, flaunt your BEETLEJUICE knowledge for a chance to win free movie tickets and enjoy a playlist of local music featuring past and upcoming performers from the Goodale Park Music Series.
Screen on the Green is presented by The Short North Civic Association with support from Comfest, Gateway Film Center and the Short North Foundation.
Upcoming films in the 2014 Screen on the Green series are DIRTY DANCING on August 15 and THE MUPPET MOVIE on September 19.
