Nice welcoming club

Wall St has a wide variety of events and nights that are sure to please anyone. You can find anything from drag to leather to dance to queer nuns on any given night. They also have LGBT themed concerts and special events and a Thursday night hip-hop night .

Favorite Dance Club in the United States

For a gay 20something not looking for anything other than a fun dance night in the city of Columbus, Wall Street is the perfect place. This was the first club I ever went to in Columbus and it remains my favorite in the city, in Ohio, and in the United States for so many reasons. I've done my fair share of traveling and nothing in any other city in this country compares to this place. Wall Street has an amazing dancehall vibe complemented by thumping four-on-the-floor music provided by an amazing DJ, Michele Chaney, my favorite DJ in Ohio- and trust me, I've seen everywhere else in this state! It's clean and, even though it's in an alley, the alley feels safe and seems to be well patrolled by Wall Street staff. The crowd -- a dancey melting pot made up of mostly my lesbian sisters, a few straight women trying to get their dance on, and a handful of gay men (I haven't been to Boys Night, because I can't get here on weeknights, but there's usually a good number of us here on the weekends), the occasional straight male, and everyone in between -- feels MUCH more mature than the Axis crowd. I like that the dancing starts at 11pm on most nights (if not earlier) instead of 12 or 12:30am like at Axis, and that Wall Street doesn't start funneling people out until 2:15 (Axis... 1:45... yeah... about that... those extra 30 minutes are the best 30 minutes of the night when you're in the city). The second floor occasionally features a drag or burlesque show, but when those aren't going on, it's a nice place to sit and relax for a quick break- and trust me, it'll be quick, because DJ Michele will get you back on the dance floor so easily you won't believe it. If you come early, there may be a show taking place on the first floor- anything from drag, to burlesque, to a charity event, to a musical, to country line dancing- and during these times, cover is usually $10. Drinks are very strong. Expect to spend $30+ for a good night here, but it's TOTALLY worth it. It's also close to downtown hotels (my recommendation? Priceline a 3-4 star for $58... you'll get it on a non-convention weekend), and taxis start showing up in the alley later in the evening. If you're feeling adventurous, hang out in the alley until 3 or 4am and see what happens... I'm warning you, though... I've seen it all in that alley... lol! Here are a few of the nights I've been to: FIRST FRIDAY - Wall's biggest night of the month never, ever will let you down. The First Friday crowd starts picking up around 9-10pm and it's usually "one in, one out" until after 2am- so get there early. Also this event is 21+ with a $5 cover (unless you're lucky enough to score a VIP pass like me :) ). Easily one of the best nights of the month in all Ohio and all of the Midwest because the dancing starts early, the music is awesome, and the staff just wants you to have fun. AmyK usually bartends upstairs on First Fridays. I learned that AmyK used to DJ the Open Doors dances at Casa Cantina in Athens when she was a student at Ohio University- I've been a guest DJ for Open Doors twice- it was cool to meet her- she's pretty awesome and I recommend opening a tab with her- if you see her, tell her I said hello :). TRAFFIC JAM - another fun night at Wall Street - the third Saturday of the month. Green, yellow and red glow sticks at the door. 18+ and DJ Michele Chaney, who knows how to keep the crowd moving. Seriously, she's awesome. Get your glowstick and do whatever you feel inclined to do :). COLLEGE NIGHT - every Friday except First Friday and fourth Friday - no cover but a hit or miss crowd. I've been here for a few of these and sometimes the dance floor is packed- other times, there's no more than 20 people in the entire nightclub. There's always more people on any given Saturday, which is Wall Street's best night of the week. NOTHING in the entire state compares to a Saturday night at Wall Street. You won't be disappointed with any Saturday night here. SWEATIN PRESENTS - fourth Friday of the month featuring alternative 80's. I was only here once but I didn't care for it. No cover, but I had much higher expectations for SWEATIN because I've heard so much about it. There weren't many people here and no one was dancing. I love a good 80's night, but this didn't do it for me... anyways... Wall Street Night Club is the kind of place that has been around for a long time and has forever been committed to equality, HIV education, and providing a VERY safe space for us queers to dance. That's really, really important. It's a huge dancehall where people are laid-back and open-minded and where the dancing starts early and, for Columbus, goes until late (for any visitors from 4am cities, though, it'll be the best you can do in Columbus- but it'll be worth it!). It's a legendary night club and LGBT people and their friends of all ages from around Ohio know about 'the club in the alley.' As a gay man in a relationship who loves to dance, I love everything about it. My partner and I have bonded over DJ Michele's dance music, which always tells a story and brings us together (and sometimes... okay, occasionally... okay, often... brings us up on the big stage to dance).. it's all so amazing. It's a come one, come all kind of place where everyone- no matter who you are- just wants to dance and have a good time- and trust me, you can't find that within a solid 100 miles of the state capital other than this downtown hotspot :). DJ Michele is awesome- can you say thump-thump no holds barred LGBT, house, electronic, and awesome dance music all night? The Wall staff is fun and the crowd is AWESOME. It attracts the most amazing gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans*, pan/polysexual (*muah* yours truly), ally- and everyone in between- crowd in the state. I've reconnected here with so many friends from high school, undergrad and grad school who have relocated to Columbus. It's a huge place, it's loud, it's dark, it's fun, it's dancey, it's amazing, and it's sometimes a freak show- but what did you expect for a big city LGBT nightclub in an alley? :). I love this place so much and my boyfriend and I have spent many, many, MANY good nights here- including New Years Eve. If you're visiting Columbus, make sure you go to Wall Street if you want to have an awesome dance night. For a gay 20something, it's a no-drama place to dance with old friends and new friends... and I've made a lot of them here. If you're here on a First Friday or a Traffic Jam night or any Saturday, definitely make sure Wall Street is on your agenda... just make sure you arrive by 11, 12 at the latest, because it'll be one in/one out after that. It's pretty amazing and as much as I wish Wall would stay open until the sun came up.. it's probably for the better, lol :). Seriously, though- get here. And come on and come on and RAISE YOUR GLASS!... that's their theme song :)

Written for the girls!

In all honesty, i'd only recommend wall street on special occasion nights. if you're looking to hook-up, show up on the weekends. expect to pay a fee to get in. $5-$10. there is an upstairs with couches, pool tables and an extra bar. so if its packed, and you cant get a drink downstairs, go upstairs and you'll probably get served right away. also, the top level balcony serves as an excellent way to spot the hot girls. just a suggestion. the music is interesting. very lady gaga with a random spice girls song thrown in. The burlesque night was very very awesome and worth the money....it went to breast cancer awareness. traffic night is pretty packed as well. in comparison to other gay places. if you want to dance with lesbians, this is the only place to go. i wouldn't suggest any of the other lesbian bars. and yes, there are polo wearing lesbians, but typically don't find the rugged scary dykes that hang out at slammers. (but ya, they show up too) in closing: if you're a young lesbian trying to meet someone, i'd suggest wall. but, like i said, pick a night wisely. you'll pay $5 to get in and as soon as you walk in, you'll see there are 2 lesbians dancing together. it can be a waste, but if you go on traffic night, or any other special event, you will have fun. side note: if you plan on going here for PRIDE. get there early. they are at maximum capacity all night. (and there arent many other options as far as lesbian filled places)

wednesdays are a blast!

if you're a gay guy, and you want something fun to do, but can't wait for the weekend, head on over to Wall Street on a wednesday (especially if you're under 21, because it's your only option during the week). typical mix of top 40 and house music, no cover, decent crowd (especially for a weekday), nice staff, free parking, and hot guys. i don't think the girls-who-like-guys-who-like-guys crowd has caught on yet, because thankfully over 95% of the people there are actually gay men.
